Traditions

Pillsbury College & Seminary, formally launched in the summer of 1992, traces it’s history back more than 100 years.  The roots of FreeWay Foundation go back into the late Ninteenth Century; it was established under another name in 1890 as a Christian educational institution, concerned primarily then with societal problems associated with alcohol and other drugs.

The College & Seminary is named in honor of two of the founders of Christian Civic Foundation (CCF), the predecessor to FreeWay Foundation.  In 1955 Ed and Harriett Pillsbury, prominent members of Third Baptist Church in St. Louis, along with a few other concerned Christians re-chartered CCF as an educational agency to apply Christian moral teachings to some of the most devastating social problems in the United States.  Pillsbury College & Seminary supports and continues the mission of FreeWay Foundation and its predecessors as an established educational institution, specializing in Christian counseling and pastoral ministry.

Pillsbury Hymn ” Loyalty to Royalty”
Verse 1
Hail King Jesus, Lord and Master, You were born to royalty. We, Your subjects bow before You, Pledging love and loyalty. While the foe becomes more daring, When he enters like a flood, Christ, our Savior, is preparing, Vict’ry through His precious blood.

Verse 2
In His book His acts are written, Wondrous works to praise His Name. Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus Christ is still the same. He whose thunder shook creation, He who bids the planets roll, He who walked upon the tempest, Is the guardian of my soul.

Verse 3
So brave warriors, do not murmur, At the trouble of the way; Meet the tempter—fight with courage; Never faint, but watch and pray. Jesus, Conqueror, will defend you; Trust in Him and Him alone. He has shed His blood to save you; He will bring you to His throne.

Verse 4
Let us hail the joyful season, Let us greet the rising ray; When the Lord appears there’s reason to expect a glorious day. So observe: the day is breaking; Joyful  times are near at hand. God, our Mighty God, is moving; Darkness flees at His command.

Verse 5
Hail, you happy, joyous spirits, No more sorrow, no more pain;  Glory, Honor, Adoration!  With King Jesus we shall reign.   Hail, King, Jesus, Lord and Master, You were born to royalty; We, Your subjects, bow before you, Pledging love and loyalty.
